sir Doug

Gregory Douglas was born in Kingston Jamaica where his first thrill of the microphone would come at age 7 at an open mic family function. From this point on, he was in love with music. When his family moved to the Bronx New York at age 11 he began writing at such a pace he amassed 1,000 songs by the age of 15. It was at this time that he was given the opportunity to record by an upstart college DJ and led to his first release at age 17. As Doug grew into a young man he would be inspired by legends in music such as Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, Buju Bonton, Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls.

In 1999 Doug formed alliances with DJ Clue which created a buzz that led him to signing as a Lil Kim Queen Bee Artist in 2001. The label eventually disbanded due to Kim’s legal issues and rifts between the click leaving Sir Doug without a home. Doug kept grinding and made his first underground video in 2004 while attending live sessions of 106 and Park to keep his face seen. Between 2004 and 2006 Doug was interviewed three times on 106 and Park while he had records spinning on Hot 97 and WBLS. After making two live appearances on WBLS station, Doug was still unable to capitalize off the buzz generated due to a lack of financial backing.

Now a father and more determined then ever, Doug began to hustle even harder saving up enough money in 2007 to eventually produce his own video “NO ROMANCE WITHOUT FINANCE” with the help of an up and coming film maker Young Antonio the CEO of Everythang Green Films. With a huge buzz in the tri state area with underground video shows and all the Bronx and Brooklyn public access channels playing his video, Doug was officially a local underground dance hall sensation. Seeing the potential of Doug and having a film on deck Young Antonio decided to link Doug to his A&R talent scout Every Day who originally was almost turned off by Doug’s persistence. After listening to only “No Romance” for two straight hours on a trip out of town Every Day was immediately convinced that Doug was the next big artist in not only Dance Hall but popular music.

When asked Every Day was quoted as saying “I couldn’t stop playing it. I knew instantly it was a smash hit”. Every Day quickly signed him under his own multi media management firm and has “No Romance” scheduled to appear as a single off the Ca$h Rules soundtrack currently in stores. Doug is beginning to see his dreams unfold as he is now working on his acting chops having appeared in a cameo for the movie “Notorious” the Biggie Smalls biopic and the soon to be released straight to DVD movie “DON’T BLINK”. Doug is also in talks to do a film based on an old school Jamaican king pin from Kingston and is prepping his follow up to “No Romance” called “Girls Make Me Excited”. When asked what he thought of his own music his reply was “the dance floors will be packed every time a Sir Doug track comes on. I’m coming to take over!”
